Welcome to the Teaching Larger Classes (TLC) and First Year Students (FYS) Community of Practice (CoP) wiki (the FYS CoP merged with the TLC CoP in 2011-2012). Hosted by Educational Development at Wilfrid Laurier University, this wiki provides a space to capture and extend the conversations that take place every four weeks with those who teach, support, or are interested in large class instruction and the teaching of first year students. The wiki space will also be used to share resource/instructional materials, communicate upcoming development opportunities, etc.

The TLC/FYS CoP provides a space for members of the Laurier community from across the disciplines and departments to come together to share experiences, best practices, and lessons learned associated with teaching larger classes (however you define LARGE) and first year students. The agenda for each gathering is informal and driven by participant needs, interests and questions. Depending on the time of year select meetings may be theme-based. Browse through the resource page, highlights of previous meetings, and our CoP guidelines in anticipation of joining us at one more more of our CoP.
